I used a popular AI appraisal app on the market. The operation was simple: just take a photo of the jade and upload it. 📸

Results are in!

  • Hetian Jade Pebble Hand-piece: The AI's result was "Hetian jade, pebble, fine texture, compact structure, no obvious flaws, suggested market reference price XXXX yuan." ✅ Accuracy over 95%! It even identified the pebble characteristics, which surprised me a bit. It could even analyze the jade's oiliness and skin color features, and while not as detailed as my naked eye observation, the general direction was correct.


  • Jadeite Bracelet: The AI's judgment was "Natural Grade A jadeite, average clarity and texture, clean base, a small amount of cotton, suggested market reference price XXXX yuan." ✅ Also very close to my judgment. It could identify the jadeite's clarity, color distribution, and even some internal structures like cotton. However, for the 'charm' and 'gelatinous feel' of jadeite, AI seemed powerless.


  • High-imitation Xiuyan Jade Bracelet: The AI's result was "Xiuyan jade, not natural jadeite, advised to purchase with caution." ❌ Haha, this result relieved me! It successfully identified that it wasn't jadeite, and although it didn't explicitly call it 'high-imitation,' it gave a clear risk warning. This shows that AI has some ability in distinguishing authenticity.


Advantages and Limitations of AI Jade Appraisal:

* Convenient and efficient: Anytime, anywhere, a quick photo on your phone can give you a preliminary appraisal result, saving you the hassle and time of going to an appraisal institution. ⏱️
* Low cost: Most AI appraisal services are free or very low-cost, which is very friendly for beginners.
